  1. Seventh-day adventist or adventist is a 
  2. member of the Protestant religious sect of 
  3. the same name. It originated in the USA in 
  4. the fervent expectation of Christ's Second 
  5. Coming, or advent, that swept across New 
  6. York State following William Miller's 
  7. prophecy that Christ would return on the 
  8. 22nd of Oct 1844. When this failed to come to 
  9. pass, a number of Millerites, as his 
  10. followers were called, reinterpreted his 
  11. prophetic speculations and continued to 
  12. maintain that the millennium was imminent.
